HISTORICAL BACKGROUND:

Sankar family is one of the famous families in Damascus, which infamous trade between the Levant since ages ago.
OSSG initial stages exists since year 1947 when the founder Mr. Omar Sankar established his initial business venture in coordination with his father who was one
of the pioneers in the food processing business in Syria since 1922.

The inherited talents of the son led him to set up several chains of companies which focused mainly on general car maintenance and services.

In the year 1960 those workshops were integrated into on big industrial group holding the name of Omar Sankar Est.

The factory, as it was known at that time, was primarily specialized in fabrication of different types of bodies for any transport vehicles, chassis and heads.A sizable and well-equipped distribution center was also built to store, distribute, and sell Mercedes-Benz' spare parts and accessories.

The line of production ranged from wooden or steel platform trailers and sidewalk semitrailers, to large drinking water and industrial tank.

Applying the finest Technology and know-how of those days, Omar Sankar Est. soon became prominent in the region as one of the premium manufacturers of tankers, truck-bodies and trailers.

In 1977, Mr. Omar Sankar initiated Omar Sankar’s Sons Co., granting the leadership to his sons who were well experienced in their father’s business and were in fact undeclared partners until then.

In 1981, all operations were merged under the founded entity Omar Sankar’s Sons Co.

Many activities renovated to be the most sophisticated setup in the region.

The food processing plant which carried the official industrial registration license No. (1) in Syria, was expanded in 1982.

In January 1997, Omar Sankar's Sons Group (OSSG) was the first privately owned company in Syria to obtain the ISO 9002 certificate for quality of products and services.
